A ferromagnetic core forms a magnetic circuit, possibly closed by an air gap and carries two or more coils. The core is transiently saturated by a pulsed current in one coil with the other coil for output. At least one coil is flat. The core material permeability is at least of the order of one hundred thousand. The core is a surface film with a thickness of a max. of one hundred thousandth of a metre on a substrate. The conductor of at least one of the coils is arranged in a further surface film on the substrate so as to be insulated from the core.
