PURPOSE:To obtain the plastic optical fiber which has excellent transmission characteristics of light in a visible ray region and IR to near IR wavelength region, is uniform in diameter and has excellent heat resistance by forming a specific fully fluorinated polymer without having a C-H bond in the molecule as a fiber. CONSTITUTION:The core component of the plastic optical fiber having a core- clad construction is constituted of the copolymer which is the copolymer of the perfluorodioxole expressed by formula I and at least one kind of other copolymerizable ethylenic unsatd. compds. without contg. the C-H bond and has >=100 deg.C secondary transition temp. without having the primary transition temp. measured by a differential scanning colorimetry. In the formula I, R, R' denote F or CF3. The plastic optical fiber which can transmit light even in the near IR region and has the good heat resistance is obtd. in this way. |
