PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of focus detection and to allow the detection even of a finer subject by calculating the relative displacement of the two images in accordance with the photoelectric outputs of a pair of photoelectric conversion element arrays and detecting the focusing state of an imaging optical system in accordance with the result of the computation thereof. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with filter means 27, 28 which add prescribed weights varying relatively from each other on the photoelectric outputs of the photoelectric conversion elements 22, 23 in a sampling position and the photoelectric output of the photoelectric conversion elements deviated from the sampling position near the photoelectric conversion elements in the sampling position and add the respective outputs. A focus detecting means calculates the relative displacement of the two images in accordance with the photoelectric outputs of the sampling means filtered by the filter means 27, 28 and detects the focusing state of the imaging optical system in accordance with the result of the computation thereof. The device is so constituted that the prescribed weights are added to the sampled photoelectric outputs in such a manner and, therefore, the accuracy of the focus detection is improved. |
