The invention relates to an apparatus for controlling the temperature of a liquid heat transfer medium in an installation for producing hollow bodies of plastic by means of temperature-controlled moulds, the heat transfer medium being heated outside the moulds in a heating vessel (1) and passed through a flow pipeline (5) into the moulds. There, the required heat is discharged and, for renewed heating, the said heat transfer medium is returned via a return pipeline (16) into the temperature-control apparatus. According to the invention, the return pipeline (16) is forked into two line arms (16a, 16b), of which the one line arm (16a) passes through the heating vessel (1) and the other line arm (16b) passes through a cooler (3) to the flow pipeline (5). In each line arm (16a,16b) there is arranged a shut-off valve (19,20), which can be closed with respect to the heating vessel (1) or with respect to the cooler (3) respectively. Both shut-off valves (19,20) can be controlled by means of electronics.
