<p>PURPOSE:To easily produce the subject compound in high selectivity by contacting a specific zeolite to a mixture containing monoalkyl diphenylene oxides. CONSTITUTION:A mixture containing monoalkyl diphenylene oxides having 1-3C alkyl group is added with (A) an adsorbent consisting of a zeolite exhibiting a powder X-ray diffraction pattern same as that of faujasite (faujasite-type zeolite modified with a metal such as alkali metal), (B) a diluent (preferably 5-10C paraffin) and (C) a desorbent (preferably toluene, etc.) and treated at room temperature - 350 deg.C under atmospheric pressure - 100kg/cm<2>.G to adsorb the objective compound other than 4-alkyldiphenylene oxide to the adsorbent and obtain the objective compound.</p> |
