PICTURE DISPLAY SIGNAL GENERATOR

PURPOSE: To transmits such a signal that matches to a receiver having specific resolution by providing a signal source which generates signals indicting continuous line scanning distributed in a field direction and a means which alternately selects every other picture elements from adjacent pairs of scanning lines. CONSTITUTION: High-visibility luminance signals are impressed upon a 4.2-MHz low-pass filter 1106 and band width-limited signals are generated at the output terminal of the filter 1106. The principal advantage of this system is that the band width is affected in both the vertical and horizontal directions due to the zigzag scanning of one low-pass filter in±45 deg. direction. During the effective period of each horizontal line, the band width-limited signals are impressed upon a chrominance burst inserting circuit shown as the block 1110 in the figure through a switch 1108 where chrominance signals are added to the luminance signals in a frequency alternating way. The synthesized chrominance-luminance signals are impressed upon another block 1112 where standard synthesized NTSC signals are formed by adding a synchronizing signal and a blanking signal to the chrominance-luminance signals. The NTSC signals are impressed upon a standard broadcasting device and transmitted to a standard receiver 1114 and a high-visibility receiver through a broadcasting antenna 1116.
