PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensively the object compound which can be blended with an epoxy resin without complicated procedure in eliminating the reaction solvent, by the reaction of an organic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, etc., with aminophenol in a phenolic novolak resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is obtained by the reaction of (A) an organic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of formula (R1 is tetravalent aliphat ic residue having >=2C atoms or tetravalent aromatic residue) or its derivative with (B) aminophenol in (C) a reaction solvent consisting of a phenolic novolak resin [preferably a resin (semi)solid at normal temperature and having a melting point or softening point of 25-200 deg.C]. |
