Method for the touch-controlled windowing of a display which is effective in at least one step on at least one of four sides of a display at right-angles to each other

The windowing of a display is managed, in the method shown, by means of a two-dimensionally assigned electro-optically alterable medium whose electrodes are preferably arranged in a matrix shape. The method relates to the control of the windowing. It is achieved by means of a coordinate-shaped arrangement of touch sensors, preferably capacitive sensors lined up in a row of any length, this row being able to be inside or outside the display. This is likewise achieved by means of capacitive sensors which are inside the display and which use electrodes which likewise already rest on a part of the electro-optically alterable layer. The area defined by the coordinate arms behaves in each case in a way suitable for a scale for the display which is to be influenced. By means of touching one coordinate arm, that coordinate is defined as far as which the desired display dimming is to carried out. This process is possible at most twice per coordinate, in total a maximum of four times, so that the rectangular transparent region can be positioned in any desired position and be of any desired size within the display.
