PURPOSE:To add a function to prevent an erroneous insertion of a cartridge by forming protrusions by breakable claws which serve as a stopper when an ink cartridge is inserted and changing the shape of the protrusions by breaking a predetermined claw. CONSTITUTION:There are formed protrusions 11-17 in the periphery at the front end of a hard case 2 of an ink cartridge 1. These protrusions serve as positioning stoppers when the ink cartridge 1 is inserted into a recording apparatus. Moreover, the protrusions are formed of breakable claws, and therefore, the shape and position of the protrusions 11-17 can be changed by bending or breaking predetermined claws. For example, if some of the claws are broken, it is possible to change the shape of the protrusions 11-17 for every color of ink. The inner shape of a loading portion of the recording apparatus where the cartridge is inserted agrees with the shape of the protrusions 11-17 of the cartridge 1 of the corresponding color, but does not agree with the shape of the protrusions of the cartridge of the other colors, whereby an erroneous insertion of the cartridge becomes impossible. |
