The hydrolysis of carbonyl sulphide is efficiently catalytically intensified by sintered titanium dioxide particles (scrub solids) which are chiefly used for preventing wall encrustations in titanium dioxide preparation by the chloride process. It is particularly expedient when the sintered titanium dioxide particles are wetted with sodium hydroxide or sodium aluminate; such a treatment also makes the catalyst regenerable.
|
