PROCESS FOR SYNTHESIZING OLIGONUCLEOTIDES AND COMPOUNDS FOR FORMING HIGH-MOLECULAR PROTECTIVE GROUP

Chain-lengthened oligonucleotides are obtained by condensation in a homogeneous system of (a) a mononucleotide or oligonucleotide or its succinate, the 5'-terminal hydroxyl being free but other functional groups protected by several low-molecular protecting groups and one polysaccharide-contg. protecting group; with (b) a mono- or oligonucleotide having its terminal phosphate free but other functional groups protected by low-molecular protecting groups. The polysaccharide-contg. protecting group is pref. applied using a reagent of formula (I) where Q is a glucose residue; R is acetyl, propionyl or butyryl (pref. acetyl); n is 10-2000; x is 0.4-0.8; y is 1.0-2.0. Compounds (I) are claimed as new, and prepd. by derivatisation of the acylated polysaccharide. Pref. Q is cellulose.
