Steerable percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) dilatation catheter with a regulating expanding device (10) embodied in a connector (9) having three ports: One for pressure application (7) at the pre-set expandable section (3); one for pressure, time and temperature reading (8) of the fluid at the same expandable section, and one for introducing guide wire (10). The interlumen of the longitudinal circular body is made of a polymer coated metal coil tightly wound (5) and an outer jacket (4) with one single alternating section of closed and open braided mesh of unstretchable material of ultra high modulus metals or fibers. At the distal end of the catheter the two bodies are sealed at (2) to form the passageway (53) for the fluid. The steerable PTCA catheter with the expandable section can be internally pressurized with or without inflation of the expandable section, the degree of expansion is controlled by the regulating device.
