A frame joint is described comprising two frame members (1 and 2) cut to form a mitred joint. The mitred ends are formed with grooves (3) which when placed adjacent one another form an aligned slot. A connector member (4) is hammered or pushed into the slot to form a rigid and reliable corner frame joint. The connector member (4) is made of metal or rigid plastics material and has a curved nose portion (5) at one end joined by a flat end face (6). Each side of the connector (4) has two grooves (7) with parallel inner walls (8) and diverging outer walls (9) formed in the side surfaces of the connector. Ribs (10, 11) with angled ends (12, 13) run along the outer walls (9). The end of the connector opposite to the round nose portion (5) is cut to a V-shape corresponding to the angle shape of the mitred frame members (1 and 2). |
