<p>Device and process for positioning a glass sheet (1) travelling forward on a conveyor, according to which a buffer (6, 7) is interposed in the path of the glass sheet (1), which is hit by an end of the front edge of the glass sheet (1) and which is kept in contact with the glass for a sufficient time for the glass to be redirected by the conveyor which continues to carry the glass sheet (1), characterised in that throughout the period of the positioning, the buffer (6, 7) is driven in a translation motion parallel to the forward travel of the glass, in the same direction as the latter, at a speed which is lower than the speed V1 of the conveyor.
