There is disclosed a passenger transport installation in which a large number of people can be efficiently transported between vertically-spaced two places (1, 2). There are provided stations communicating with a vertical elevator passage (6) or passages along which vehicles (17) can move upward and downward, and the vehicles (17) stop at the stations to allow passengers to get on and off there. While passengers get on and off the vehicles (17) at the stations, other vehicles (17) carrying other passengers can move upward and downwardly along the elevator passage (6) or passages.
