A golf ball is provided on its outer surface (11) with alternately radially-outwardly-projecting discontinuities (20) and radially-inwardly-extending discontinuities (21). The distance (X) between adjacent discontinuities (20) may be 2 to 5 mm and the depth (Y) of each discontinuity (21) may be 0.1 to 0.4 mm. Preferably, the radius of curvature of the discontinuities (20) is equal to that of the discontinuities (21), so that when viewed in any direction along its periphery, the ball has a substantially sinusoidal configuration. <IMAGE> |
