PURPOSE:To prevent the large erroneous display of the present position by providing a limiting means which cancels the first preset position of a vehicle that is measured by a satellite navigation method in starting. CONSTITUTION:The flow that is the limiting means of a navigation apparatus for a vehicle is usually executed only once when a power source is turned ON, i.e. at the time of restarting, before navigation control. This a part of a flow where the initial condition of a control program is aligned as initial setting. The first measurement of a position performed by a satellite navigation method at the time of restarting with this apparatus is carried out as shown in the flow chart. The result of the position measurement is stored in a back-up memory (step S3). After the storing is finished, ordinary navigation control S4 is performed namely, at the restarting of this apparatus, the use of the first present position data which are measured by the satellite navigation method are limited by the flow shown in the chart. The display is canceled and is not used other than in the case of the second position measuring computation. |
