The credit card with integrated circuit and data memory has CPU which adds fault detecting data to transaction data in memory, for additional storage. The data processing system includes an ICcard and an auxiliary system releasably connected to the IC-card in writer to transmit transaction data to the IC-card. The card comprises an input unit (18), a CPU (15) with RAM (15a), a data store (16) and program store (17). The CPU (15), data store (16) and program store (17) are made on an integrated circuit or ICchip. The program store (17) comprises a mask-ROM store and stores a program for carrying out the requied operational functions. The data store (16) comprises an EEPROM and stores various transaction data. Validity of data written onto store is verified at read-out.
