Prodn. of mixed colouring effect in textile material or natural or synthetic polyamide using acid dyestuff(s) and localised resist medium comprises performing dyeing with (a) a metal-free dyestuff(s) (pref. two or more) contg. one or two sulphonic acid gps. having k'pH 6 value of at least 4 (4.5-6.5), and (b) applying a resist medium of an alkoxylated fatty 1-32C alkylamine which is opt. protonated or quaternised. Also claimed are (i) a dyestuff compsn. comprising (a) and also polyvinyl pyrrolidone; and (ii) a carpet, (non)woven fabric, knitted fabric, thread or yarn dyed as above.
