PURPOSE: To fully remove a distorted signal contained in a read signal by providing each internal circuit with a prescribed connection, obtaining a prescribed control signal from each recording information read out with a head pair, and outputting to a positioning means. CONSTITUTION: The read heads k1 , k2 of a read-out device (head pair) 5 each read out recording information of the adjoining track, with each output signal supplied to a signal generating device 25. Then, if the head pair k1 , k2 is displaced by 1/αof the track width in the direction crossing the track, a device 25 constituted of a level detector 30, 31, multiplication unit 34, 35, 38, 39, LPF 48, 49, 55, 56, multiplier 52, 59, and subtraction circuit 62 forms a control signal CS=-βα/(1-α) for performing correct tracking from the output signal of the head pair 5 and supplies it to an actuator 8, whereβindicates the additional attenuance of information to be read out. As a result, a distorted signal contained in a read signal is fully removed.
