PURPOSE:To protect grains and/or nuts from pollution of aflatoxin as strong toxic material by using iturin-A. CONSTITUTION:Iturin-A expressed by the formula (R is alkyl) is applied to field crop selected from grains and nuts, especially maize (corn), peanut, pistachio nut or almond to inhibit growth of aflatoxin-producing fungus or productivity of aflatoxin and thus aflatoxin having strong carcinogenicity is effectively controlled by using the above mentioned compound, Bacillus subtilis strain producing said compound or cultured solution of said strain. The application is performed by, e.g. a) spraying or mixing to field culturing said field crop, b) spraying before or after harvest or during culturing, c) sowing seed of said field crop covered with said compound or d) applying said compound to said field crop during storing. |
