发明名称 METHOD FOR MEASURING UNDERWATER TEMPERATURE
摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To continuously measure the water temp. distribution in a depth direction so that the temp. at every water depth can be measured in a short period of time by making light pulses incident on an optical fiber charged into water from one end thereof and receiving the return light from the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 12 for a temp. sensor the transmission parameter of which changes with temp. is charged from, for example, a stern of a ship into the sea and moves parallel in the sea at the angle of inclination determined nearly by the navigation speed of a ship and the weight of a weight 13. A light pulse generator generates the light pulses of a specified intensity and specified pulse width according to the timing signal from a timing control circuit 9. The light pulses are made incident through a half mirror 11 on the optical fiber 12 from one end thereof. The return light from the fiber 12 is received and the temps. in the respective positions of the optical fiber are determined by a change in the return light by the change in the transmission parameter and the time lapse from the incidence of the light pulses to the detection of the return light.</p>
