Liquid crystal optical projector arrangement

A liquid crystal optical projector arrangement includes a beamsplitter (8) for separating light into the three primary colours such that each of the primary colours may be modulated by a liquid crystal light valve (22) before the colours are recombined by a dichroic beam synthesizer (30) and passed to a projection lens (32). Between the beamsplitter (8) and the synthesizer (30) is a path length compensator which enables the green light to have a path length substantially equal to that of the red and blue light.
