PURPOSE:To obtain a full color image with good reproducibility over a full color component range by a method wherein output signals for seven color components are fetched by electrically separating the color of a color original, and colorants of seven colors capable of gradation expression are printed on a surface to be printed with a density in accordance with the output signals per color component. CONSTITUTION:A three color separation part 11 scans a color original 12 and outputs electric signals of three color components, i.e., Red, Green, and Blue, which are primary colors of light. A three color conversion part 13 converts these signals to electric signals of three color components, i.e., Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan, which are primary colors of printing and outputs them. A seven color conversion part 14 converts the signals of the three color components to signals of seven colors, i.e., Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black, Red, Green, and Blue, and outputs them. Electric pulses each having a length corresponding to the strength of each of the seven color components are inputted to a thermal head 15 per dot, whereby a thermal energy corresponding to the pulse length is applied to an ink sheet 20. The ink sheet 20 is formed by arranging sheets of these seven colors in order. |
