摘要 System for automatically shutting down a nuclear reactor, comprising a control rod 10, a temperature-sensitive electromagnet 14 arranged above the control rod to lock and unlock the control rod, and a part for inserting the control rod, about which are arranged a plurality of cladding units 18 which each accommodate one fuel rod 16. The present invention is characterised in that the upper part of the cladding or an extension tube connected to the upper end of the cladding is made of a temperature-sensitive magnetic material 30 which has a characteristic suitable for reducing the saturation flux density at the instant of an excessive increase in temperature of a coolant through the fuel rod 16. The temperature-sensitive magnetic material constitutes part of a magnetic circuit of the electromagnet. When the high-temperature coolant raises the temperature of the temperature-sensitive magnetic material, the magnetic circuit of the electromagnet is broken, and the control rod 10 is released from the electromagnet 14 and falls into the core of the reactor in order to shut down the reactor. <??>Application: in particular to fast-neutron and pressurised water (light water) nuclear reactors. <IMAGE>
