The waste processing machine which forms the subject of the invention includes a loading opening in the form of a lock 1, processing means, and means 5 for discharging the processed waste. The means for treating the waste consist, on the one hand, of a shredding system 2 associated with booms 3 for sprinkling a disinfectant product, and, on the other hand, of a pressing device 4 allowing the shredded matter to be impregnated by the disinfectant product and its volume to be reduced. The pressing device 4 takes the shredded waste back up in a receiving basket 29 in the form of a filter located above a tank 31 for recovering the disinfectant product. This machine may advantageously be used for treating infectious waste from hospitals or laboratories. <IMAGE>
