Amide cpds. of formula (I) are new (where X and Y= S or C, or X=S and Y= N; Z= nitrile or thioamido; R1 and R2= H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl or phenyl; R3= H, lower alkyl, alkenyl, haloalkenyl, furyl, thienyl, alkoxy, alkynyloxy, alkylthio, alkynylthio, pyrazolyl or phenyl opt. substd. by halogen). (I) are useful as active component of fungicides, effective for plant blights caused by Phycomycetes. By spraying, 100 pp, of (I) is 100% preventively and therapeutically effective for Phytophthora infestans and Pseudoperonospora cubensis.
