<p>PURPOSE: To regenerate a catalyst without the lose of a rhodium complex by removing catalyst contaminants by using liquefied gas consisting of a specific material or gas exceeding the critical point, then separating and recovering a gaseous phase and recycling the gaseous phase. CONSTITUTION: The liquefied gas selected from the specific material, such as carbon dioxide, sulfur hexafluoride or denitrogen monoxide, or the gas exceeding the critical point is used to remove org. impurities as well as acetic acid, acetic anhydride and ethylidene diacetate under pressure of 35 to 450 bar and at 0 to 120 deg.C from the contaminated rhodium complex catalyst soln. The gaseous phase is separated and recovered from the purified liquid and is recycled. The acetic acid, acetic anhydride and ethylidene diacetate are separated from the liquid residue and is recovered and used for the catalyst complex. The org. impurities are taken out as the residue at the time of gaseous phase sepn. The catalyst may be purified without using the costly rhodium by the method described above.</p> |
