A self-locking descending device for a rope (24) is comprised of a first side plate (18) provided with an articulation axis (30) and with a first fixed pulley (12), a mouvable suppport (32) with control lever (34) pivotingly mounted on the articulation axis (30) and a second pulley (14) integral with the support (32) and offset with respect to the axis (30). The second pulley (14) has a bulging (14) cooperating with a first braking surface (26) of the first pulley (12) when the lever (34) is in a first locking position. The pivoting support (32) is provided with a keying lug (36), separated from the second pulley (14) by a space (48) for the passage of the rope (24), and cooperating with a second braking surface (28) when the handle (34) is displaced towards a second locking position. The unlocking of the descending device (10) takes place in an intermediary position of the control lever (34). Applications : mountaineering, speleology, climbing and works sites. |
