In an electric cable for audio, video, measurement, data transmission or communications technology, in which the individual wires are stranded with a central wire, the central, rectilinear wire is designed as a non-conductor (4), so that the transmission signal is transmitted only by the outer individual electrical conductors (6) which are all of equal length per unit length of the cable (2). As all signal-transmitting individual conductors (6) of the cable (2) are of equal length, the problem of signal distortion by individual conductors of different lengths is overcome.
