<p>An improved covering for a continuous surface press bending mold (10) providing selectively variable rigidity for matching that desired in bending a particular part on the mold. The shaping element (48) of the mold includes a resilient body (53) having a latticework of a flexible metallic bands (50, 51) encapsulated therein. The resilient body is covered by a plurality of superimposed individual sheets of a fibrous, heat-resistant, normally pliable material (54, 55, 56, 57) which, in turn, are covered by a layer of fiberglass cloth (58). One or more or the individual fibrous sheets is treated with a rigidizier to impart a selected suitable degree of rigidity to the shaping element.</p> |
