A delay element having a construction which is as compact as possible is implemented. A metallised ceramic tube (1) is used for this purpose, on whose outside a conductive layer is deposited in the form of a helix (2). On the inside, the continuous metallisation is coated with a metal lining (3) which is slotted (4) in the longitudinal direction of the ceramic tube (1).
