PURPOSE: To obtain a hair setting composition comprising a water-insoluble amino-compound and an ionizable metal salt, the metal in which has a valence of at least II, and capable of providing a continuing hair setting capable of maintaining or improving physical characteristics such as luster, combing properties, softness. CONSTITUTION: This hair setting composition comprises (A) a water-insoluble amino-containing compound preferably having <=0.5g water solubility per 100ml water, e.g. a compound of the formula [R1 is 5-20C (substituted) alkyl and R2 and R3 are each H (a primary amine); R1 and R2 are each a <=20C (substituted) alkyl with the proviso that either thereof is a >=5C alkyl, and R3 is H (a secondary amine); R1 to R3 are each a <=20C (substituted) alkyl with the proviso that one thereof is a >=5C alkyl (a tertiary amine)], a polymer containing an amino group and an amino-functionalized silicone, and (B) an ionizable metal salt, the metal in which has a valence of at least II, (e.g. calcium sulfate, aluminum chloride) in 1:1 molar or molar equivalent ratio and has 2.7-4.5pH. The composition is useful for treatment of a human hair piece.
