PURPOSE: To avoid a pressure point by connecting passages to make air movable within all of an inside space and moving a pressure occurred at a specified part of a patient body into air. CONSTITUTION: This expandable air mattress 1 consists of an integrated slender body 3, each component of which is made of a flexible plastic material or an air-keeping fabric material, once expanded, the body 3 comprises sequential slender parallel air tunnels 5 with a pillow form, in which the tunnels 5 extend in a lateral direction to be positioned basically along with the total length of the body 1 while being contacted adjacent to each other. All tunnels 5 are connected to air distributing grooves 7 in which expanded air is supplied. The air distributing grooves 7 extend along with the total length of the body 1 and taper from an air introducing terminals 9 to terminal ends 11. Thus, all tunnels 5 can be expandable under the same pressure without any relationship to the positions as to the introducing end 9. Distribution of pressure by means of the tapered groove 7 is very superior so that a pressure output of a compressor 17 can be set at a low value of about 140mmHg. |
