The housing (1) has an intermediate base (2) dividing the interior of the housing (1) into two separate chambers (5,9) respectively containing the lamp (6) itself and the associated operating circuit. The housing (1) is rotatable through 180 degrees in dependence on the size of the lamp (6) and combined with a rear cover (3) and a front lamp glass (4), the lamp chamber (5) exhibiting the min. vol. for ensuring a min. press. ratio. Pref. a high pressure Hg vapour lamp with a power rating of between 80 and 400 Watt is used. USE - For lighting applications in explosive areas.
