For routing signals between intrinsically safe plants or non-intrinsically safe plants or non-intrinsically safe plants and intrinsically safe plants, a device is provided in which in each case transmitter-transmission elements and, respectively, receiver-transmission elements are provided which convert electrical signals into optical signals or vice versa and are in each case assigned to one space or, respectively, to the respective plant. In this way, the necessary signals are routed as optical signals between the different plants, irrespective of the respective design in terms of intrinsic safety. In this way, due to the intrinsically safe DC-isolated signal transmission, corresponding signals can be transmitted between the various housings and to the outside, even in the case of shearer loaders, without any risks. Above all, however, different apparatuses and plants can be combined with each other in this way without specific permission (authorisation, licence) being required in each case for the combination, as long as the individual devices as such are permitted. <IMAGE>
