Process and apparatus for treating contaminated soil materials

Process for separating off organic and/or inorganic contaminants from polluted soils or soil-like materials, in which the material is suspended and mixed with a surfactant-containing washing solution in a mixing apparatus and the suspension is then separated into two fractions, of which one contains the contaminated washing solution and the fine materials and light materials suspended therein and the other is formed of coarse solids, in a further fractionation step, the coarser, uncontaminated fine constituents being screened out of the washing solution, the solids particles remaining in the washing solution after separating off the fine materials being separated into two fractions, of which one contains particles having relatively low density and the other contains particles having relatively high density and the particle fraction having the higher density being separated off from the washing solution.
