PURPOSE:To prevent viewers from feeling uncomfortable by permitting a control circuit to temporarily stop the operation of a video signal circuit, which supplies a display device of a projection type with a video, during the operation of an igniter circuit. CONSTITUTION:The lighting device is provided with a lighting circuit 16 for turning on a light source 1 and the igniter circuit 17 for starting/restarting the light source; the device is also provided with the control circuit 22 for operating the igniter circuit 17 in the end of starting the light source 1, for stopping the operation of the igniter circuit 17 in response to the start of the light source, and for temporarily stopping the operation of the video signal circuit, which supplies the display device of the projection type with a video, in the operation of the igniter circuit 17. That is, noise caused by a high voltage because of the operation of the igniter circuit 17 is prevented from disturbing the video of the display device of the projection type and from generating a white fringe, by temporarily stopping the operation of the video signal circuit during the operation of the igniter circuit 17. Consequently, viewers never feel uncomfortable. |
