The present invention relates to an ink jet nozzle for use in an ink jet printer of the type which comprises a body (12) of silicon or glass having an opening (16, 18) forming the nozzle, and a coating for the opening.
A nozzle according to the invention is characterised in that the coating comprises a first layer (20) of silicon nitride on the silicon or glass body (12), an intermediate layer (22) formed from a mixture of silicon nitride and aluminium nitride, and a third layer (24) formed from aluminium nitride.
