An apparatus for cutting a used ink ribbon (R) wound in a pancake form, comprising a ribbon holder (3) for setting a position of the ink ribbon (R), and a plurality of cutting blades (6) extending radially on one surface of a base member (1) movable relative to the ink ribbon. When the base member (1) is driven to the ink ribbon (R), the cutting blades (6) cut the ink ribbon (R) through a plurality of cutting planes extending radially from the axis of the ink ribbon (R) in a pancake form.
