Sanitary water apparatus with filtering apparatus for fibers, in particular asbestos fibers

Filtering appts. for water is positioned between a supply pipe and tap. The appts. comprises a housing (12) with a water inlet (17) and water outlet. Between the inlet and outlet in the housing is a depth filter (11) positioned so that all water must pass through it. During use, filtered fibres remain in or on the filter principally on the side facing the upstream side. An absorbent esp. activated carbon is placed adjacent the filter so that any bacteria from the filter are absorbed thus inhibiting any changes in the smell and taste of the water.
