<p>PURPOSE: To secure the movement of a cursor by providing a rotatable cylinder means and a slider means which can move in a parallel direction independently of the cylinder means, and leading a vertical and a horizontal control signal out individually. CONSTITUTION: When the cylinder member 10 mounted on a shaft 12 is rotated, a rotary encoding wheel 14 mounted on one end surface of the shaft 12 rotates and an optical encoder 18 detects the rotating speed and rotating direction of the wheel 14 with plural radial markings 16 provided for the wheel 14. Further, when an E type slider bar put slidably in a slot 22 is moved, an encoding strip 26 fitted between extension arms 28 and 30 moves together and an optical encoder 32 detects the movement of a marking 34 on the encoding strip 26. The outputs from the encoders 18 and 32 are sent out to a microcomputer which supplies a signal corresponding to the cursor control input of a display unit to move the cursor up and down vertically.</p> |
