PURPOSE:To tightly roll a strip without damaging the strip edges by setting a passing position of the strip by one side guide provided with opening degree setting mechanisms and contact surface pressure adjustment mechanisms and adjusting the contact surface pressure with the strip by the other side guide. CONSTITUTION:Directly after the strip is coiled round a strip coiler 1 the side guides 2a, 2b on both sides are closed as far as they come into contact with the strip 5. Thereafter, the position for a side guide on one side, for example, 2a is fixed and the other side guide 2b is brought into contact with the strip under a suitable contact surface pressure set in accordance with the dimension, material, etc., in advance. A detector 41 of the pressure to the strip 5 is installed on each contact surface adjustment mechanism 4a, 4b, contact pressures between the strip 5 and each side guide 2a, 2b are detected, hydraulic cylinders 32 are operated through controllers 31 of the opening degree setting mechanisms 3a, 3b to carry out a closed motion to the strip 5. In this way, the coil edges are put in order and the strip can be coiled tightly. |
