<p>PURPOSE:To recognize a fault location accurately and to attain automation by sending a pulse to a communication line to be tested, converting a reflected waveform of the pulse reaching a sending point after being reflected at a fault point and calculating the reflected waveform at a virtual fault point. CONSTITUTION:A transmission pulse generated by a pulse transmission section 2 is sent to a communication line 1 to be measured. A reflected wave is inputted as an analog signal to a pulse reception section 4. The signal is converted into a digital signal at a signal processing circuit 11, in which signal processing such as noise rejection smoothing is applied and the result is outputted to an arithmetic section 10. A virtual fault location setting means 15 sets a virtual fault location and outputs the result to a reflecting waveform arithmetic means 18. The reflecting waveform arithmetic means 10 obtains a reflecting waveform based on the data by a theoretical calculation. The observed waveform and the calculated waveform are compared by a waveform comparison means 12, and when the difference is a predetermined threshold level or below, the virtual fault location is outputted to a display section 17 as an estimated location of the actual fault location and displayed thereupon.</p> |
