PURPOSE: To illuminate a signboard uniformly by using light from a light source to the maximum, by causing a middle part of each panel to receive twice as much illumination light as side parts of the panel and causing side parts of adjoining panels to be given the same amount of light as a middle part of each panel by cumulating superimposed light from the adjoining panels. CONSTITUTION: As much light as possible from each light projecting device 10, 12, 14, 16 is re-directed toward the middle of a corresponding sign panel, the light is expanded across each sign panel, and light distribution is performed so that light allotted to side parts of sign panels 20, 22, 24, 26 from the respective light projecting devices has half intensity of the light to the middle of each panel. Superimposed light from adjoining sign panels is caused to be cumulated in side parts of each sign panel in order to give them the same amount of light as the middle of respective sign panels except for both ends of a signboard 18. Each light projecting device is provided with a reflector 40 having a groove or a reflector segment 42 for expanding light across a corresponding sign panel.
