The automatic welding installation includes a robot arm with an assembly face (13) for welding torches held in a rack (21) and provided with an assembly face (47). The robot arm incorporates a locking/unlocking device (63-65) for welding torches, and is provided with means for supply of welding wire to these torches. The installation is characterised by the fact that the torches consist of a part (44) with the assembly face (47), and a movable nose-piece (40) which is connected to the part (44) and can be positionally adjusted by a distance control unit (45). Welding wire is supplied through a guide tube (43) consisting of two parts which are axially slidable relative to one another and are fixed respectively to the nose-piece (40) and the part (44) of the torch.
