<p>Apparatus for transversely sealing packages comprises a rotatable body, a number of carrier assemblies disposed along its periphery, each including an inner and outer mould and a drive for urging the outer mould against the inner mould and for moving the outer mould to its open position. This position is laterally offset in the direction of rotation from the position where it is located opposite to the inner mould. In the open position, a tubular member contg. a filling is supplied to the inner mould. A transverse seal is applied to the tubular member transverse to the direction in which it is conveyed when the outer mould is urged against the inner mould to sandwich the tubular member.</p> |
