The invention relates to a releasable binding for an element for sliding over snow, such as a snowboard. It is composed of two independent jaws 8 in rotation about two spindles 9 of the body 1. The opening of one of these jaws frees the front of the boot. These jaws are, according to the case, held in a closed position or assisted in their opening via a system of cams 7 indexed by the indices 6. The indices are elastically linked with the body by means of the piece 2 and of the spring 4, the adjustment of which is obtained by means of a screw 3, nut 5 system. Pressure on the blade 11 gives rise to closure of the jaws. This system is intended particularly for fastening downhill ski boots onto a snowboard. <IMAGE>
