PURPOSE:To prevent the vibrator from being strained owing to variation in ambient temperature, the change with the lapse of time etc., by forming grooves in a longitudinal direction nearly in the center parts in the lateral direction of the flanks of a columnar body. CONSTITUTION:The vibrator 10 is formed of a material which vibrates mechanically. The grooves 12a, 12b, and 12c which extend lengthwise are formed in the three flanks of the vibrator 10 almost at the center parts in the lateral direction. This vibrator 10 is used for, for example, a vibration gyro 20, which has piezoelectric elements 14, 16, and 18 formed in the three flanks almost at the center parts. When this vibrator is used, the strain of the vibrator 10 is absorbed because the grooves 12a - 12c are formed in the flanks. Consequently, the strain on the vibrator 10 due to variation in ambient temperature is absorbed and the vibrator 10 is not strained. |
