PURPOSE:To obtain vitamin D compounds in a short time in high efficiency using easily preparable microorganism and reaction solution by adding a specific vitamin D compound to a solution of cells of actinomycete belonging to genus Amycolata, thereby converting the H atom of the compound to OH group. CONSTITUTION:A 1alpha-hydroxyvitamin D compound or 25-hydroxyvitamin D compound can be produced by adding a vitamin D compound having H atom at the 1alpha-or 25 position to a solution containing cells of actinomycete belonging to genus Amycolata and capable of hydroxylating vitamin D compounds (e.g. Amycolata saturnea A-7983, FERM BP-2307) or an enzyme produced by the microorganism and converting the H atom of the vitamin D compound to OH group. |
